13:30	Welcoming Address Masahiro Matsuura, Managing Director, Telecommunications Advancement Organization of Japan
	An explanation concerning the background of CRYPTREC's activities was given, and an expression of gratitude was made to all those who had assisted in these activities and to those who attended the conference.
13:35	Technical evaluation in the Electronic Government Taku Kiyasu, Director, Standardization Division, Information and Communications Policy Bureau, Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications
	An explanation concerning the role and the importance of CRYPTREC activities was given in the governmental framework for achieving an electronic government (e-government). In addition, explanations were given about the proposal of a cryptography list (re)commendable for the e-government by CRYPTREC and the schedule for obtaining inter-ministerial agreement regarding a cryptography usage policy.
13:55	On the Evaluation of Information Security and Cryptology Shigeo Tsujii, Professor, Chuo University (Adviser, CRYPTREC Advisory Committee / Adviser, CRYPTREC Evaluation Committee)
	From the standpoint of overall information security, the role and importance of security evaluation activities such as CRYPTREC were explained, including introduction of activities of other internal/international evaluation organizations. In addition, it was pointed out that general people do not always sufficiently recognize the importance of cryptographic techniques, and the promotion of understanding of the importance of cryptographic techniques is a future issue. Moreover, an integrated evaluation organization of overall information security including cryptosystems is needed.
14:15	The activity report of CRYPTREC in the FY2001 Hideki Imai, Professor, The University of Tokyo (Chair, CRYPTREC Advisory Committee / Chair, CRYPTREC Evaluation Committee)
	Professor Imai, as the chairman of the CRYPTREC Advisory Committee and chairman of the CRYPTREC Evaluation Committee, explained the specific organization and activities of CRYPTREC, including the relationship between the CRYPTREC Advisory Committee and the CRYPTREC Evaluation, and the progress of the activities. The fruits of fiscal 2001 cryptographic techniques evaluation activities were also enumerated. As future issues, the need for continuous evaluation of cryptographic techniques, extension of evaluation categories such as cryptographic module evaluation, and international cooperation, were pointed out.
14:55	Summary of CRYPTREC Activities in FY2001 and its Future Planning of FY2002. CRYPTREC Advisory Committee (Mondo Yamamoto, Deputy Director, Office of IT Security Policy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry)
	A report was given by the Secretariat of the CRYPTREC Advisory Committee on the activities and the future schedule of the committee. As the fruits of the committee's activities in fiscal 2001, the candidates for electronic government and for detailed evaluation in fiscal 2002 were introduced. Also, the discussion on the revision of the electronic signature law policy and the future issues were enumerated. Moreover, the activity plans for generating the portfolio of recommendable cryptographic techniques for e-government in FY2002, and consideration of evaluation schemes after FY2003 were proposed.
	Activity of CRYPTREC Requirements Investigation Working Group Ryoichi Sasaki, Professor, Tokyo Denki University (Chair, CRYPTREC Requirements Investigation Working Group)
	As the fruits of the CRYPTREC Requirements Investigation Working Group's activities, a report was given on the results of the interview and questionnaire survey on requirements of cryptographic technology, the results of foreign electronic government case studies, the results of security evaluation of ciphers contained in SSL (secure socket layer), the system models of e-government, and the usage of cryptography in e-government. In addition, there were suggestions regarding the number of recommendable cryptographic techniques for e-government and the necessity of evaluating of the protocols and products.

16:00	Report on FY2001 Evaluation of Public-Key Cryptographic Techniques Tsutomu Matsumoto, Professor, Graduate School of Environment and Information Sciences Yokohama National University (Chair, Public-Key Cryptography Subcommittee)
	A report was given on the methodology and results of the evaluation of public-key cryptographic techniques. The evaluated cryptographic techniques are categorized in accordance with their function (signature, confidentiality mechanism, or key sharing) and their base mathematical problems (integer factoring problem, discrete logarithm problem, elliptic-curve discrete logarithm problem, lattice problem). Evaluation criteria contain, for example, the possession of provable security for young schemes as well as evidential security assurance. The report gave the results of evaluations of the cryptographic schemes in each category.
	Report on FY2001 Evaluation of Symmetric-Key Cryptographic Techniques Toshinobu Kaneko, Professor, Science University of Tokyo (Chair, Symmetric-Key Cryptography Subcommittee)
	A report was given on the methodology and results of evaluating symmetric-key cryptographic techniques. The evaluated cryptographic techniques are categorized in accordance with their type: block ciphers, stream ciphers, hash functions, and pseudo-random number generators. Evaluation criteria contain, for example, security against various well-known cryptanalyses as well as implementation efficiency. The report gave the results of evaluations of the cryptographic techniques in each category.
	The guideline for utilizing Cryptographic Techniques CRYPTREC Evaluation Committee (Masaki Takeda, Researcher, Information-Technology Promotion Agency, Japan)
	The Secretariat of the CRYPTREC Evaluation Committee gave an outline of the guideline for utilizing cryptographic techniques, including aims and future plans.
17:25	Closing Address Masatoshi Ono, Managing Director, Information-technology Promotion Agency, Japan
	Mr. Ono gave his impressions regarding the international deployment of CRYPTREC activities, and expressed his gratitude to everyone who had assisted in its activities and asked for their support in the future.
